HERSHEY, Pa. - The Hershey Bears set a new world record during their 5-0 shutout win against the Hartford WolfPack Saturday night at Giant Center.

The world record isn't for anything the Bears did on the ice during the game, but rather after Axel Jonsson-Fjallby opened the scoring with a power play goal 6:13 into the first period.

The annual event has raised international attention as every season the Bears host a Teddy Bear Toss night where fans are able to bring stuffed toys and actually throw them onto the ice after the team scores its first goal of the game.

After Jonsson-Fjallby hit the back of the net, the stuffed toys came flying onto the ice at Giant Center. They were collected, counted and will now be donated to over 25 local organizations where they can be distributed to children in the greater Hershey area.

Saturday's Teddy Bear Toss Night was a GIANT (pun intended) success as a new world record of 52,341 stuffed toys were collected.
