ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (37-15-8) finished their three-in-three weekend on a positive note Sunday, overcoming an early 1-0 deficit to end their season-high five-game winless skid.

Rutger McGroarty's second period goal tied the game at 1-1, and the Penguins' persistence - especially at five-on-five - paid off in a big way in the third period with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton converting on a power play opportunity to take the lead on Gabe Klassen's 14th of the season.

Limited to just nine shots on goal through 40 minutes, Lehigh Valley's 1st period tally from Phil Tomasino ended up being their only offense on the afternoon in what was a game largely dominated by the Penguins despite the tight score.

Owen Pickering hit the empty to complete the 3-1 final score for the Penguins, while Sergei Murashov stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced to help get Wilkes-Barre/Scranton back in the win column to end the week on a high.
