WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (42-16-8) jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a dominant first period Friday night, holding on to defeat the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 3-1 as they continue to inch closer to securing a first-round bye in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Avery Hayes (goal, two assists) continues to drive the Penguins' offense, figuring in on all three goals, while Gabe Klassen (goal, assist) had another multi-point effort in helping the Penguins get out to the early lead.
Sergei Murashov (23 saves) came up with timely saves when needed, especially in the second half of the contest.
