WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins had a golden opportunity to take a stranglehold in the Atlantic Division Semifinals Saturday night.
They got a 4-minute power play opportunity early in the first period and were primed to get on the attack.
Instead, Hershey killed off the early power play - rather easily - and scored on a power play of their own to take a 1-0 lead.
The game became one of missed opportunities for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, who managed just three shots on goal in the opening period - allowing Hershey to gain momentum and change the way the game was played.
It was just too little too late for the Penguins, who fired 22 shots on net in the third period but ultimately came up short behind a strong night by Bears' goaltender Clay Stevenson (36 saves).
