The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins went on a run in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs this spring, but when was all said and done came up six wins short of their ultimate goal of winning the franchise's first-ever Calder Cup Championship.

Though the sentiment during the team's exit day last Monday was that of disappointment and frustration with how the playoff run came to an end - in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals round to the Toronto Marlies, with two overtime losses and one loss on a goal in the final 75 seconds of the the third period - there are still many things that point to 2025-26 being quite a successful season for many of the team's top prospects.

There's also no reason to doubt that the Penguins will be back in the playoffs again next spring, staring down a chance at redemption.

While goaltender Sergei Murashov and defenseman Harrison Brunicke likely played their final games in a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins uniform in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs, the team returns a large core of its players - especially those currently 23 years of age or younger.
