W-B/Scranton 2026-27 Initial Roster Revealed

The American Hockey League's (AHL) 91st season gets underway tonight with eight games across the league.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins begin their 28th season as an AHL franchise on Saturday night, October 3rd in a rematch of last year's Atlantic Division Finals matchup in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs when they host the Springfield Thunderbirds at 6:05 p.m. ET.

With the season getting underway this weekend, the league has updated the opening rosters for all the 32 teams.

While Wilkes-Barre/Scranton may make final moves before announcing their official opening night roster, here are the two goaltenders, nine defensemen* and 15 forwards listed on the AHL roster at the start of the season.

Goaltenders: Joel Blomqvist and Taylor Gauthier

Defensemen: Harrison Brunicke, Finn Harding, Caleb Jones, Phil Kemp, Jake Livanavage, Ryan Mast, Maleek McGowan*, Owen Pickering and Chase Pietila

Forwards: Tristan Broz, Atley Calvert, Lucas Ciona, Brayden Edwards Max Graham, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Avery Hayes, Tanner Howe, Mikhail Ilyin, Hugh McGing, Rutger McGroarty, Oliver Okuliar, Daniel Russell, Tiernan Shoudy and Bill Zonnon

*= Maleek McGowan is listed as a defenseman but has played forward with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in their two preseason games.
