It appears as though goaltender Scott Darling is returning to the Chicago Blackhawks organization, agreeing to terms with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Rockford for the 2020-21 season - an AHL source informed Inside AHL Hockey Sunday.

EDIT: Scott Darling is on the IceHogs training camp roster on a professional tryout contract (PTO). The team released the roster Monday at 11 am ET.

Darling, 32, spent the 2019-20 season overseas playing pro hockey in Austria with HC Innsbruck. Prior to that, he spent time in the NHL with the Carolina Hurricanes (2017-19) and Chicago Blackhawks (2014-17).

Darling's last AHL action came with the Charlotte Checkers during the 2018-19 season, where he went 5-6-2 in 14 appearances.

With Colin Dellia, Kevin Lankinen and Malcolm Subban on the Blackhawks roster at the NHL level, Darling will provide experience in net for Rockford - who currently has Matt Tomkins as the lone goalie under NHL contract on the AHL roster.

Coming in from the collegiate ranks, Tom Aubrun (Norwich - Div3) and Cale Morris (University of Notre Dame) are also on AHL deals with Rockford entering 2020-21 though Aubrun is currently with the ECHL's Indy Fuel.
