WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins got the start they wanted, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening 90 seconds of the contest, but from there a "lack of urgency" by the home team allowed their opponent to get to their game.
Hartford turned the 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead on back-to-back goals in the middle frame by Marc Del Gaizo and Taylor Raddysh and sealed the deal with an insurance marker by Nathan Aspinall in the final 2:37 of the contest.
The Penguins drew themselves back within one on 6-on-4 power play tally by Avery Hayes with goaltender Taylor Gauthier pulled for the extra attacker but that's as close as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (0-1-1) would get in a 3-2 loss.
Jake Livanavage gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead on his first career AHL goal, but unfortunately for the home team they weren't quite rewarded for their efforts in the opening 20 minutes.
