While the Lehigh Valley Phantoms were on home ice taking on the Providence Bruins with scouts from seven different NHL clubs in attendance, the Philadelphia Flyers were active in scouting a different, nearby AHL affair Wednesday night.

Scouts from Anaheim, Boston, Dallas, Detroit, New York Islanders, Pittsburgh and Toronto were on-hand for Wednesday's Phantoms-Bruins game, but perhaps more interesting was the fact that the Flyers had TWO representatives on hand at Giant Center in Hershey taking in AHL action between the Hershey Bears and Charlotte Checkers.

Inside AHL Hockey's Bears correspondent, Julie Beidler, confirmed that Danny Briere - newly appointed assistant to PHI GM Chuck Fletcher - along with a member of the Flyers' scouting department were in attendance scouting Wednesday's Hershey (Washington) vs. Charlotte (Florida/Seattle) game.

Both Washington and Florida are teams likely looking to add NHL talent for their respective postseason pushes, while the Flyers and Seattle are on the outside of the playoff picture and more likely to be looking to add for the future.

It certainly could be some advance scouting of the Charlotte Checkers, who the Phantoms will host in back-to-back games this weekend. But their increased presence at a non-Phantoms game on a Phantoms' game night is certainly worth pointing out nonetheless.
