ALLENTOWN, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins concluded the preseason portion of their 2026-27 schedule on Tuesday night, facing off against in-state rival Lehigh Valley at PPL Center in downtown Allentown.
After a bit of a sloppy start, the Penguins took control in the second period and never looked back - shutting out the Phantoms 3-0 to end the preseason with two wins in as many exhibition matches.
Daniel Russell opened the scoring with his 2nd goal of the preseason, Mikhail Ilyin (goal, assist) and Bill Zonnon (two assists) turned in multi-point nights while Jake Livanavage scored a power play goal in his first game with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Joel Blomqvist stopped all 17 shots he faced in the win, looking incredibly dialed in after losing the backup goalie battle to Sergei Murashov in NHL training camp earlier this month.
