HERSHEY, Pa - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are heading to the Atlantic Division Finals for the first time in 10 years after taking down the Hershey Bears in four games Thursday night.
A dramatic sequence in the second period ultimately was the turning point of the night, as Hershey missed an empty net on a power play opportunity and the Penguins stormed down the ice to score shorthanded to take break a 1-1 tie.
Joona Koppanen, Harrison Brunicke and Ville Koivunen scored goals for the Penguins before Gabe Klassen hit the empty net in the final minute of play to seal the deal.
Sergei Murashov was sensational Thursday, stopping 37 of the 38 shots he faced - including several timely saves with his steam shorthanded - to push the Penguins to a series win.
